Bird Removal & Exclusion Services in Illinois
Pigeons on your loading dock. Starlings in HVAC vents. Woodpeckers drilling siding. We don’t install deterrents that fail in months — we install systems built to last. Commercial & residential across Kane, McHenry & Cook County.
Birds Aren’t Just a Nuisance — They’re a Liability
Bird droppings are corrosive, harbor pathogens, and create code-violation risks for any business. The damage compounds every season the flock returns.
Property Damage
Bird droppings are acidic and accelerate deterioration of roofing, HVAC equipment, signage, and building facades. Replacement costs add up fast.
Health Hazards
Guano harbors Salmonella and E. coli. Dried droppings produce airborne spores associated with histoplasmosis and cryptococcosis — serious respiratory illnesses.
Code Violations
For food service, manufacturing, or healthcare facilities, a bird problem near receiving areas or rooftop units can trigger health department violations and shut you down.
Species & Locations We Handle
Different species require different exclusion methods. We match the solution to the species, structure, and pressure level on your property.
Common Species
- Pigeons — rooftops, ledges, loading docks, parking structures
- Starlings & sparrows — HVAC vents, soffits, signage, eaves
- Woodpeckers — siding, fascia, cedar shake, wood trim
- Canada geese — commercial grounds, retention ponds, entryways
- Swallows — eaves, overhangs, commercial facades
Common Locations
- Warehouse and distribution-center rooflines
- Retail center signage and parking structure beams
- Restaurant rooftop HVAC units and ventilation
- Residential dryer vents, soffits, and gable vents
- Office building ledges and entry awnings
Inspect. Remove. Exclude. Remediate.
Birds shift to adjacent untreated surfaces if exclusion isn’t comprehensive. We treat the entire pressure area — not just the obvious roost.
Inspect
We assess the full structure for active roosts, secondary pressure points, and damage. Effective exclusion requires understanding the whole flight pattern.
Remove
Active nests are removed (when legally permitted) and secondary deterrents are deployed during the exclusion installation phase.
Exclude
Netting, spike strips, slope systems, and vent guards are installed using commercial-grade materials. Properly spaced. Properly anchored. Built to last.
Remediate
Guano is safely removed with proper PPE and enzyme disinfectants. Before/after documentation provided for property management or insurance.
Why Cheap Exclusion Fails
Retail bird spikes and DIY netting installations look fine on day one. They fail in 6 months when the birds find a workaround.

Common Questions
Are birds protected under federal law?
Most native bird species are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which prohibits killing, trapping, or disturbing active nests without a federal permit. Common nuisance species — pigeons, European starlings, house sparrows — are not protected. Woodpeckers are protected. We ensure all work is legally compliant.
We’ve tried spikes before and the birds worked around them.
Retail bird spikes are often too widely spaced or poorly installed to be effective. We use commercial-grade products and — critically — identify and treat all available roosting areas. Birds shift to adjacent untreated surfaces if exclusion isn’t comprehensive.
Can birds in dryer vents cause a fire?
Yes. Nesting material packed into a dryer vent is a genuine fire hazard. It also blocks airflow, making your dryer less efficient and shortening its lifespan. This is one of the more urgent residential bird issues we see.
Do you handle Canada geese on commercial property?
Yes. Canada geese on commercial grounds — particularly near retention ponds and entryways — are a common and increasingly serious problem in suburban Illinois. Geese are federally protected, so removal requires a specific approach. Contact us to discuss your situation.
